Planetary edicts window

Edicts are instant or temporary effects or modifiers the player or AI may choose to apply to one of their planets (in the case of planetary edicts) or their entire empire (in the case of empire-wide ones). Most edicts are unavailable at the beginning of the game, and must be unlocked by researching specific technologies. All unlocked edicts can the enabled and disabled at will.

There are two types of edicts: empire and planetary edicts.

Empire[edit]

Empire edicts affect the entire empire and will incur a monthly cost in Influence.png influence for as long as the edict is in place.

  • Mutually exclusive with ‘Information Quarantine’.
This edict encourages the populace to always challenge conventional wisdom, even if the path taken may lead them astray.
Engineering Research Grants

  • Research speed (society) −10% Research Speed (Society Research.png Society)

This edict favors the engineering department with additional funds, at the cost of other scientific disciplines.

This edict enforces rotating tasks and work schedules for indentured servants, as more varied drudgery can lead to an uptick in productivity.
  • Emancipated (non-servitude) robots still benefit from this edict.

This edict puts the pride and glory of the Empire's grand fleet above all else, and that considerable political focus should be spent ensuring its continued prosperity.

Event edicts work like empire edicts but are made available only by the completion of certain event chains.

Planetary edicts can be enabled on a per planet basis for a base cost of Influence.png 150 influence. The edicts remain active for a base duration of Time.png 10 years.

This edict creates local reeducation campaigns, affirming that dissent is naught but the product of ignorance and a failure of reason.

Fanatic[edit]

Fanatic edicts are planetary based. As such, the base cost and base duration are the same. ( Influence.png 150 influence, Time.png 10 years ). They are available without research and will replace the basic planetary edict with similar but upgraded effects with a few exceptions such as a fanatic spiritualist one.
